Guardians of the Vessel

These paintings are presented with women and large bowls as the recurring theme. The vessel is integral and is a metaphor for the inner and outer expression of womanhood. WOMAN is seen as carrier, as bearer of the vessel as both a joy and a burden. The bowl is sometimes full and sometimes empty. WOMAN is primal and sometimes sacrificial. She cannot help but offer herself. It is the giving and receiving circle that is expressed here. The arms are larger than in life, welcoming and enfolding. The heads, sometimes bowed, are reduced in size in deference to a larger plan. There is the need to give thanks.
